Cairo is full of things to smile about. #1 is a caffe latte at Caffe Greco, my favourite coffeeshop. This reminds me of what good coffee is supposed to taste like, and the baristas are generous with morning smiles.
Then there is the Egyptian version of the Dickie Dee man. Here the cooler cart is shaped like a swan. And funnily enough, adults were the fellow's main clientele as he pushed his swan along Road 9.
Finally, there is unpredictable Mother Nature. Just as I headed to the airport to meet Mom and Dad, the skies opened up and the rains came down. Rain is rare in Cairo and unheard of this time of year. Because there are no storm sewers, the roads quickly become flooded with water. Yet everyone was glad for the precipitation. It's Mother Nature's way to clean the streets, trees, and air of this megalopolis.
We all made it safely (and sanely) to Luxor at a reasonable hour thanks to EgyptAir staff finding three seats for us on an earlier flight. Another fun chapter begins . . . albeit after a good night's sleep. Sweet dreams everyone. See you bokra. zzzzzzzzzzzzz
