Pompeii

It's 12:38 am here in Sorrento -- well past my bed time.
Here are a few pictures of our day in Pompeii. Details to follow.

We did a lot of trekking along the city's basalt paved streets. This one leading up from a city gate was lined with bars where food could be purchased. This was also the entertainment district with the Broadway and off-Broadway theatres.

Bath house changeroom and plunge bath.

Taking a break in the gladiatorial school.

I wasn't the only one who needed a little siesta. This fellow was stretched out on one of the main thoroughfares while his mates preferred the shade cast by an ancient wall.

Drive home courtesy of the car's GPS took us along the coast and through its towns with exceptional views.

In the evening we enjoyed the sea breezes at Delfino restaurant. The portions of seafood were bountiful. I enjoyed a whole octopus that was verified caught in this harbour and cooked in a tomato sauce. Indulgence.

The local vino made with the ancient Greek aglianico grape was excellent. And at the meal's end, the limoncello was very smooth. Indulgence.

A presto!
ZzzzzZzzZzzzZzzzzz . . .
